Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information WrenchWorx collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: the app itself doesn't collect your data. WrenchWorx runs on your computer and your workshop records stay there.
The important bit: WrenchWorx is a desktop application that stores all of your workshop data — customers, vehicles, jobs, quotes, invoices — locally on your own machine. We have no access to it, we don't upload it, and we don't store copies of it.
Who we are
WrenchWorx is operated by Jacob Hoschke (ABN 99 459 431 131), based in Australia. If you have questions about this policy or your data, email [email protected].
Your workshop data stays on your computer
Everything you enter into WrenchWorx is written to a local database file on your own device. It is not sent to us or to any third party. Specifically:
- We cannot see your customers, vehicles, jobs, quotes, or invoices
- We do not upload, sync, back up, or transmit your workshop records
- The app works fully offline and does not require an internet connection to run
- You are responsible for backing up your own data using the built-in backup and CSV export tools
If you choose to store your backups in cloud storage, that is your own account with your own provider, and their privacy policy applies to it — not ours.
What we do collect
We collect a small amount of information, and only where it's necessary:
- Purchase information. When you buy WrenchWorx, payment is handled by our payment processor. They collect your name, email address, billing details and payment information. We receive your name, email address and order details — we never see or store your full card number.
- Your email address. Used to send your licence key and download link, to respond to support requests, and to notify you about important updates or fixes.
- Mailing list sign-ups. If you join the Mac waiting list, we store the email address you give us for that purpose only.
- Support correspondence. If you email us for help, we keep that correspondence so we can assist you.
Licence key validation
WrenchWorx may contact our payment processor's servers to validate your licence key when you first activate the software. This confirms the key is valid. It does not transmit any of your workshop data.
Who we share information with
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers to run the business:
- Our payment processor, to handle purchases, licence keys and refunds
- Our email provider, to send you your licence key and to correspond with you
- Our website host, which may collect basic technical logs when you visit this site
We may also disclose information where we're required to by law.
This website
This site is a simple static page. It doesn't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics. Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability purposes.
How long we keep things
We keep purchase records for as long as we're required to for tax and accounting purposes under Australian law. Support emails and mailing list sign-ups are kept until they're no longer needed, or until you ask us to delete them.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we'll help. Note that we may need to keep purchase records even after a deletion request, where the law requires it.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can contact us first, and you also have the right to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page.
